about

Celebration, Florida was a project Derek Lappano and Drew Nelles started in Montreal with their McGill roommates.

I needed material for the compilation, so they brought this song idea back to Guelph with them and recorded it in my basement under the same name.

I never have heard the actual Celebration, Florida version of this song, so this is the only one for the history books folks! They asked me to put the piano parts on it and help with some vocals, so i actually attribute this track as 3/4 MPC, 1/4 CF, but kidding aside, it's a CF song.

Beautiful lyrics yet again from Drew as this song has brought me to tears many times since we recorded it that night. One of my favourite songs of all time!

lyrics

my mother's working upstairs on a new laptop computer
and she worries about the radiation that its been shooting through her
but she stays at the keyboard, nobodys got a choice these days
she keeps fighting through her sicknesses and thats just the price we've all gotta pay
(for our mobile phones and cleaning products)

lately derek's been excited to get in the streets every weekend
singing for revolution with 10,000 of our friends
i mean hes got hope etched underneath his skin
and its hard to tell where thei nk ends and where his body begins

and dan can't walk with jesus cause the devil broke his back
and now hes stuck on a chair on wheels and he moves with a battery pack
and i'll keep following his treadmarks and pick parking lots over trampolines
and we will laugh inside hospitals and we will brink ourselves on higher needs

and i can't speak with my father cause the lord took him away
there ain't no footprins in the sand to see they've been washed out by the waves
and the world keeps getting smaller and my how we have grown
and everyones getting connected and closer but i have never felt so alone
